The gun goes off and the event begins.

It's taken me a while to finally upload my first post simply because i had no idea how to start, but after taking some time to think about the ideal start, i felt like i was still clueless and so here i am...

My name is Kyle Chettleburgh and i am a 22 year old student-athlete at Western Kentucky University. As a native of South Africa, i arrived in Kentucky during the Fall of 2008 after being recruited to run Cross Country and Track. I am now a Senior and in the process of completing my final year of undergraduate studies as well as completing my collegiate athletic career. Its the home straight of a 4 year race i have been running. I hope you enjoy the commentary over the last few steps of the race...

The 2011 Cross Country season has gotten off to a great start for our team. We have put in the hard work in training and performed well at competitions. We started off at the Brooks Memphis Twilight Cross Country event, winning the collegiate men's competition - proving to the rest of the Sunbelt that we mean business this year. Two weeks later we hosted the Old Timers classic in Bowling Green, KY at Kereiakes Park. Again, our team took care of business on the course as we cruised to the second team victory of the year. More recently, we competed at the Greater Louisville Cross Country classic in Louisville, KY. We new it was going to be a tough day as the field was full of talented athletes from the top schools around the country. The team got out well from the gun and ran competetively. Apart from two of our guys getting caught in a "pile up", we ran well as a team with our top three athletes in the top ten overall - an awesome performance by Deus, David and Peter.

Our next race will be this weekend in Terre Haute, IN at the ISU Pre Nationals Cross Country meet where we will be racing against the very best NCAA collegiate Cross Country athletes. It is going to be a tough race to say the least.

Tune in for future updates - thanks for reading!

  1. This is a good start--just a note though--your future entries should be about social media--about new social media tools, campaigns, interesting articles/studies about social media, etc.
